Leyrat VSOP Reserve

Leyrat VSOP Reserve

Leyrat VSOP Reserve 1600 901 Luca Cominelli

The Leyrat VSOP Reserve is a single estate cognac, due to the fact that all the production stages, from the vineyards to vinification, distillation, and aging, are taken care by the company. Leyrat is a brand owned by Francis and Elodie Abecassis, that also own other notorious cognac brands, such as Le Reviseur and ABK6.   The Cognac Leyrat is produced with vineyards from Claix, a small village in the Fins Bois area.

TASTING NOTES – LEYRAT VSOP RESERVE

Nose

very aromatic and easy. There are dried fruits, raisins, dates, and hazelnuts. Rather delicate and pleasant. Then ripe tropical fruits and a little oak.

Palate

Decent arrival. It is very raisiny and with a ripe fruit sweetness to it. There are also notes of mango, milk chocolate, and oak spices. A touch of grass. A little on the dry side.

Finish

Medium persistence. More tannins, very drying and a lot of oaky.

Overall the Leyrat VSOP Reserve delivers pleasant scents to the nose, and it is decent to the palate. The finish though, it gets too oaky and dry.
