TASTING NOTES – JOHNNIE WALKER RED LABEL

Nose

There are marine hints, joined by black pepper, smoke, and a salty touch. Some iodine and peat, with a hint of lemon, are perceivable as well. Scents are not intense.

Palate

Light peat is confirmed, together with iodine and marine aromas. It is then the turn of ash and bonfire on the beach. It is acidulous and straight forward.

Finish

Short persistence. Wood, bonfire on the beach and a touch of peat. At the very end, black pepper.

Overall, the Johnnie Walker Red Label is a very basic whisky, with a flavor profile that is equipped with a rather contained harmony. Better to be used in cocktails rather than being drunk straight.
