Fratello Cigars Corona

Fratello Cigars Corona

Fratello Cigars Corona 750 420 Michel Arlia

Fratello Cigars is a fairly young brand, that presented its namesake line in 2013. Today the classic line is composed of five vitolas (Boxer, Corona, Robusto, Timacle and Toro) and the cigars are packaged in 20 count boxes.

The name could suggest an Italian owner, but Omar de Frias is Dominican. The name of the brand comes from de Frias’s nickname fratello (Italian for Brother), that he was called during Collage, and, as he says, represents fully the real nature of friendship and family in the cigar world.

The band is particular and gives the impression of zig zagging around the cigars. The wrapper has a little oily sheen to it, with a light veining. The tonality is Colorado. Holding the Corona, the weight reflects the generous and homogeneous filling.

Fratello Cigars Corona: the cold draw reveals notes of coffee and spices. The cigar starts out spicy and re-proposes the coffee notes from the cold draw.

The first third develops, other then the coffee, notes of cocoa. Proceeding, cedar wood is added to the bouquet. All this is underlined by red pepper. The strength is slightly over medium (3,5/5).

Entering the second third the smoke becomes creamy. The cocoa moves alternates to citrus notes, that refresh the smoke. The strength stays constant (3,5/5).

In the last third earthy notes emerge, becoming the main aroma, followed by citrus, cedar and red pepper notes. The coffee moves to the aftertaste. The strength increases to a medium full level (4/5).

Overall a cigar with a particular aromatic palette. Mechanically the Fratello Corona is perfect in every way, from the burn to the draw. The balance between the strength and the aroma intensity is excellent. The evolution is perceivable.
