Elijah Craig Barrel Proof

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof 1600 899 Luca Cominelli

The Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is a cask strength bourbon whiskey. Being a single cask, bottles have different ABV contents and can also feature a slightly different flavor probfile. That said, all the versions we tried boasted a great consistency.

The history of this distillery dates back to 1800s, when reverend Elijah Craig established this brand.

TASTING NOTES – ELIJAH CRAIG BARREL PROOF

Nose

Hints of caramel, burnt sugar and crème brûlée are delivered, followed by oak wood, vanilla and cherry in alcohol. Then it’s time for intense notes of pecan nuts.

Palate

An explosion of wood and caramel are enriched by rich wood spices. Then oak and cherry in alcohol are confirmed. There is also a nuance of citrus fruits (cedar peel). Buttery

Finish

Long persistence. Vanilla pod, menthol and a riot of wood spices.

Overall, the Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is a very rich bourbon. The high alcohol content gives it a high persistence and a very remarkable intensity. Good structure, as well as the width of the flavor profile. To fully appreciate all its nuances, given the high alcohol content (the Barrel Proof of this tasting is 68%), a few drops of water are recommended. For the lovers of the full grade, this bourbon will deliver a great satisfaction.
