Eiroa Dark Robusto

Eiroa Dark Robusto

Eiroa Dark Robusto 1600 900 Michel Arlia

The name of the Eiroa Dark comes from the natural dark color that the high priming tobacco has once it has finished its fermentation process. It is entirely made up of Honduran Corojo tobacco grown by Eiroa himself. For more information, click here.

Eiroa Dark Robusto

There is not much you see of the cigar, due to half of it being covered in wax paper. But once the paper is removed, it reveals a smooth Colorado Maduro shaded wrapper. Construction is flawless.

Eiroa Dark Robusto

Eiroa Dark Robusto: a mix of wood and spices is perceptible in the cold draw. Once lit, the cigar opens with a blast of black pepper.

Further, into the first third, the black pepper is joined by wood and walnut. There is also an underlying sapidity present that is somewhat typical for Honduran tobacco. Strength is medium (3/5).

The second third has the black pepper, wood, and nuts firmly planted upfront. Vegetal notes and leather are coming through in the background. Strength increases to a medium-full level (4/5).

The final third sees the flavors becoming fuller and the finish is very long. Strength remains unchanged.

Overall, the Eiroa Dark Robusto is an intense smoke. The word “Dark” is very fitting for the flavor profile that it present, but it still manages to be a balanced smoke and not just a strong cigar. The Eiroa Dark Robusto was placed in the Top 5 of our awards of last year.
