Dona Flor Puro Mata Fina Robusto

Dona Flor Puro Mata Fina Robusto 1600 900 Michel Arlia

The Dona Flor Puro Mata Fina cigars are produced by the Menendez Amerino & Cia. company in Brazil. As the names suggest, the blend is made entirely of Mata Fina tobacco grown in the Recôncavo region in Bahia.

Dona Flor Puro Mata Fina Robusto

Visually, the wrapper is of a Colorado Maduro color that is slightly rustic to the touch. Construction is flawless, while the finish of the head is rather flat

Dona Flor Puro Mata Fina Robusto

Dona Flor Puro Mata Fina Robusto: the cold draw reveals light aromas of hay. Once lit, the cigar opens with delicate notes of wood, nuts, and leather.

Dona Flor Puro Mata Fina Robusto

Further into the first third, a sweet creamy note appears next to the wood and leather. There is a fleeting spicy component present in the retrohale. Strength is medium-light (2/5).

The flavor intensity in the second third drops slightly and now only the wood is present. The cigar become bitter toward the end of the second third. Strength is unchanged.

The profile is confirmed in the last third and is a long continuation of the previous one.

Overall, the Dona Flor Puro Mata Fina Robusto starts as a balanced smoke with an interesting flavor profile. Unfortunately, from the second third on, the flavor profile involves and drops in intensity, making for a one-dimensional remaining cigar.
