DARKNESS! INVERGORDON 43 YEAR OLD OLOROSO CASK FINISH

TASTING NOTES – DARKNESS! INVERGORDON 43 YEAR OLD OLOROSO CASK FINISH

Nose

Particularly sweet. Aromas of honey, chow and almonds are immediately perceptible. After a few moments in the glass, an major balsamic vein emerges, as well as notes of toffee. A bit of leather.

Palate

An explosion of wood and ripe tropical fruit, enriched with a hint of orange peel. Wood varnish and a touch of spice are also perceptible, the latter just barely perceptible. Particularly sweet and oily.

Finish

Long persistence, with notes of spices, toffee, orange peel and cocoa.

Overall, the Darkness! Invergordon 43 Year Old Oloroso Cask Finish is a whisky that demands your attention, but repays you with a broad flavor profile. The long aging has given the profile deep, structured, and balanced aromas. The nose reveils all the complexity, which carries over on to the palate. Not easy to read, it is a confirmation of how interesting single grains can be.
