TASTING NOTES – CONNEMARA PEATED ORIGINAL

Nose

To the nose, the first impact is fruity, with nuances of peat that soon get perceptible. Then it delivers malt and a touch a walnut. Lastly hints of iodine.

Palate

Sweet and salty aromas, with smoked wood and a hint of vanilla are delivered. Then wood spices, together with a soft peaty touch. Lastly, apple and some sugary notes.

Finish

Persistence is medium. Peat, vanilla and notes of cut grass.

Overall, the Connemara Peated Original is a whiskey equipped with a nice intensity. It is harmonious and well balanced. It lacks complexity, but for that, the brand makes a 12 years old and a cask strength version of this one.
