Casdagli Basilica A is part of the “Basilica” line, made up of five formats. The name “Basilica” was chosen to honor the great patriarch of the Casdagli family who founded the family Egyptian cotton business – Emmanuel Casdagli. His portrait is on the cigar band. The term Basilica derives from the ancient Greek meaning “Royal House” – invoking Emmanuel’s Villa Casdagli.
For the blend of this cigar, a Dominican Cotui wrapper is used, over a Bonao binder aged for 11 years. The filler includes Pennsylvania Broadleaf (U.S.A.) and Pelo de Oro grown in Peru. This blend would appear to have been created specifically for Casdagli Cigar customers from Saudi Arabia looking for a cigar that could pair with Arabian cuisine and oriental teas.
The cigars are sold in twenty-count boxes.
The cigar is dressed in an oily Colorado-Maduro wrapper, which is smooth to the touch. The overall construction is flawless. The foot of the cigar has an unconventional finish, with the wrapper being cut above the foot, showing part of the filler.
