Aesthetically the wrapper of the Gordo is of a shiny Colorado tonality. Pretty smooth to the touch, with little veining. Overall construction seems good, while the filling is generous it isn’t overabundant. Draw results to be open.

Camacho-Powerband-Gordo-3

Camacho Powerband Gordo: unlit, notes of coffee, honey and floral, with a little more evident hazelnut note.

First third has a good sweet start, with salty hints that don’t displease. It beginns rather slow and it needs a few puff before any aromas reach the palate, and begin to emerge in form of flavors of hay and citrus (good intensity), on a spicy and woody base. Smoke is enveloping, considering the amount of tobacco that is burned with each draw. Strength is medium – light (2/5).

Camacho-Powerband-Gordo-2

The evolution in the middle section does not change the initial flavors. Continuing in the smoke, the percepted aromas are of vegetal and spicy character (the later increases in intensity in respect of the first third), with a light hint of honey. Strength stays constant (2/5).

In the last third the saltiness becomes equal to the sweetness, which never changed during the course of the smoke. The flavors are more expressive, albeit limited in numbers, playing on a triptych of cellulose, spices and honey, of medium intensity. Strength increases slightly, becoming medium (3/5).

Camacho-Powerband-Gordo

Overall, we expected something more of this Gordo, that, in respect to the other examples that make up the line, results less performing. The aromatic intensity isn’t particularly marked and the aromatic palette is not particularly ample. However, a simple smoke and this Gordo could be a good product for those that want to approach this format. Combustion of the wrapper is, in some examples, irregular, so much that some sporadic corrections are needed.
