Nose
Once poured into the glass, this Bunnahabhain delivers rich scents of red fruit, cherries liquor, oak, and wood polish. There is also a peppery touch.
Palate
To the palate, it is incredibly warm and round. It delivers notes of oak, sherry, and dark chocolate. Hints of honey. Sweet. Despite the very high ABV, this Scotch is tremendously easy to drink, and the alcohol kick takes a few seconds to kick in.
Finish
Long, with an aroma of oak and rich white pepper, the latter is the finish’s main flavor.
Overall, the Bunnahabhain 11 Years Old 2009 The Ultimate Selection is an incredibly satisfying Scotch, delivering an intense flavor profile. Despite the high ABV, this whisky is warm and round, with no harshness at all—a true sherry bomb. The aromas are not many, nor too sophisticated, but they come together harmoniously.
