The Brun del Re 1787 Rainforest Jaguar Long Robusto is one of the few cigars made entirely from Costa Rican tobacco grown in the Perez Zeledon region in the south of the island. The product aims to transfer typical forest scents into the smoke. Secondly, the line tends to raise public awareness of the rainforest, which is subject to massive deforestation. In fact, for every cigar sold, Brun del Re donates part of the proceeds to a Costa Rican association that takes care of protecting the rainforest with concrete actions.
The cigar is dressed in an oily Maduro wrapper, marbled with reddish tones. To the touch, it is pretty smooth, with a couple of veins present. The construction is good, and part of the wrapper leaf partially closes the foot.

Brun del Re 1787 Rainforest Jaguar Long Robusto: very dominant aromas of undergrowth and cocoa are perceived in the cold draw, followed by less evident earthy tones.
Once lit, the smoke is perfectly balanced between sweetness and sapidity. It expresses very marked notes of moist earth, followed by other less evident vgetal and coffee nuances. Strength is light (1/5).
In the central section, the sapidity becomes predominant over the sweetness. Next to the aroma of moist earth, which has remained unchanged compared to the first third, a spicy note appears. Strength increases, becoming medium (3/5).
In the final third, nothing changes in the palatal perception and strength (3/5). Wood notes, while intense, leave room for hints of black pepper and earth. Only in the last puffs does a bitter note appear.
In conclusion, this Brun del Re 1787 Rainforest Jaguar Long Robusto turns out to be a very interesting cigar with a particularly intriguing flavor profile. The evolution is not among the most marked, but the product’s strengths are well-defined aromas and a strength that is never over the top. A great Costa Rican puro.
