BENROMACH 2009 CASK STRENGTH BATCH 1

TASTING NOTES – BENROMACH 2009 CASK STRENGTH BATCH 1

Nose

the alcoholic strength is well balanced by powerful sherry notes. Crisp red apples, black cherry jam, as well as stewed pears and dried figs, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, orange zest, and loads of toasted wood. Rich and complex.

Palate

warm and powerful, almost peated, with smoky notes of charcoal, roasted coffee, cocoa beans, black pepper, and sherry notes of mulled wine, stewed apples, plums, and some wine tannin.

Finish

good persistence with a slight saltiness that exalts the burnt intensity: salted caramel, fleur de sel chocolate, tons of bonfire smoke. Long earthy sherry finish.

This new Benromach is a powerful and really peculiar whisky that offers a rich sherry and toasted version of the classic Speyside elegance. It will satisfy the more demanding palates as well as those who love strong emotions.
