Balblair, a distillery in the Highlands of Scotland, uses a structured system of vintage instead of the typical years of aging. Every year, various products of different years are proposed and, with time, the same year can be repeated more than once. This third release of vintage 1999 dates back to 2017, thus presenting a product of 17 years of age.

TASTING NOTES BALBLAIR 1999/2017 3RD RELEASE
Nose: black pepper, then pine needles, with hints of undergrowth. The vegetal note is mitigated over time, leaving space for red fruits, strawberry and black cherry. Then follow notes of milk chocolate, cocoa beans and acacia honey. Good complexity.
Palate: medium intensity. Round. Red fruits, like strawberry and cherry, with an evident spiciness of black pepper and paprika. Intensity increases.
Finish: medium intensity. Slightly bitter. Notes of cocoa beans, black pepper, black cherry and honey.
The age, however, already important, of the Balblair 1999/2017 3rd Release is felt in the final, where the bitterness of the wood appears. For the rest, a very enjoyable product, with a nice complexity and an excellent balance. Ideal for an autumn evening.
