In March of this year, Adventura Cigars announced that the Navigator line would get a new size called Francis D. Corona. The new size is dedicated to Sir Francis Drake, a famous English explorer of the 16th century.
While it is called a Corona size, the actual measurements are closer to that of a Lonsdale. Adventura Cigars has released a few blends in this actual size, most recently the Royal Return King’s Gold Corona.
The oily wrapper is of a Colorado Maduro shade, with some small veins present. Filling is uniform and generous. There is almost no give when the cigar is gently squeezed between the fingers.

Adventura The Navigator Francis D. Corona: notes of hay and a mix of spices are perceived in the cold draw. Once lit, it opens with aromas of wood, nuts, and leather.
The first third continues with the wooden and nutty notes set as the main flavors, followed by leather and earth. Vegetal and pepper notes are revealed through the retro-hale. Strength falls slightly short of being medium-bodied (2.5/5).
In the second third, coffee has taken the place of the earth while the leather, wood, and nuts are still present upfront. There is also a creamy note coming through from time to time. Strength is now medium (3/5).
The last third is a continuation of the previous third, with the difference that the vegetal note moves to the foreground. Strength increases towards the end and becomes medium-full (4/5).
Overall, the Adventura The Navigator Francis D. Corona is a balanced and round smoke. The profile is broad and flavorful, but it tends to be somewhat linear. There is a little evolution perceptible, especially in the first two-thirds. While this size might not be as good as the Magellan size, it is definitely worth a try.
