H. Upman Robusto EL 2012

H. Upman Robusto EL 2012

H. Upman Robusto EL 2012 800 450 Luca Cominelli

English version

This is the first of the three 2012 Limited Edition I tried. It’s a robust size: cepo 50x124mm length. I was really looking for a H. Upmann flavors stick, and I have to admit that this LE does really have the flavors that are common to this brand, especially the vegetal notes. If you like H. Upmann cigars, then for sure you will enjoy this stick.

English version:

My smoking notes.

upmann robusto

H. Upman Robusto EL 2012: in the opening there are vegetal notes with a spicy aftertaste. The strength is medium (3,5/5). To the nose the smoke has some ammonia, due to the young age of the cigar, but in the mouth I’m not noticing it. In the first third, the opening aromas get inverted: the main aroma are now the spices (white pepper) and vegetal aftertaste. The strength is still the same (3,5/5). In the second third the strength increases a bit (4/5). The spices are still the main flavor but the aftertaste changes: wet wood. The beginning of the third third is really spicy, and I can really pick up a nice chili taste. Unfortunately after few puffs of this last third, the ammonia notes come up really fast, and they get so strong that for me it’s impossible to continue the smoke. I abandoned it when I still had 1 inch to enjoy. This happened because the cigar is still young and it needs more time to rest and age a bit. The burning ring was excellent.

I think this cigar will get better and better year after year. I think in 1 year this cigar will be definitely better than now, and it will be smokable till the end. To me, this cigar will be easily able to strike more than 90 points, the flavors are already nice and rich and they change nicely during the smoke. This is gonna be a really good robusto, it just needs some time.
