Villiger 130th Anniversary: the cold draw reveals vegetal notes and hints of hay. The opening is surprisingly sweet.

The first third continues with the sweetness, vanilla can be perceived as well. Wood and hazelnut follow. Vegetal notes are still present in the background, together with a little spice. Strength is mild – medium (2/5).

 width=

The second third is still sweet, but it is balanced out by an enjoyable sour note. Hazelnut and herbs round out the flavor profile, with the spices still in the background. Strength stays mild- medium (2/5).

The last third continues with the pleasant sweet and sour alternation. Balsamic herbs, hazelnut and now leather as well create a balanced smoke. Like in the first two thirds the spices are firmly planted in the background. Strength increase to a solid medium (3/5).

Overall, the Villiger 130th Anniversary is surprisingly mellow, with an interesting alternation between sweet and sour. The evolution, although minimal, is perceptible. A good change of pace smoke for the morning.
